I have worked in every corner of this industry, and I have seen far too many dogs lost to behaviours that could have been prevented.
I started The Northern Canine to help owners with their troubled dogs and give them the best possible chance to live the life they deserve. Properly trained, properly understood, properly free.
They are not here for long. So give them the life they deserve for the time they have.
Our story"I don't train dogs for owners. I coach owners to train their dogs."
Lucas, Head TrainerEvery dog is different. Every programme is fully tailored, no templates, no shortcuts, no one-size-fits-all.
Toilet training, socialisation, commands, bite inhibition and confidence, the foundation for a well-rounded adult dog.
Pulling, jumping, ignoring commands or general chaos, genuine obedience built through structured, practical sessions.
Reactivity, recall, anxiety, impulse control, sessions in your home and out in your local environments, built entirely around your specific situation.
We believe in training that works in real life, not just in a session. Everything is built around you and your dog.
No templates, no one-size-fits-all. Every programme is built specifically around your dog's personality and your goals.
Training happens in your home and out in your local environments, with real distractions, building habits that actually stick.
Clear, practical, honest training. We tell you what works and why, no jargon, no confusion, no quick fixes.
Real results from real owners across Lancashire and the North West.
"We recently got ourselves a puppy and as first time dog owners, we had the very best of intentions and thought that we would be able to learn everything from YouTube and Google. How wrong we were! The amount of information is overwhelming and so much of it directly contradicts the rest. We met Lucas by chance and instantly found him to be clearly passionate and friendly to both us and the pup. We signed up to 4 lessons and an initial assessment and we have not looked back since. We now have markers in place for both good and undesirable behaviours, as well as the ability to walk off lead due to his recall being spot on. Lucas explained our next steps clearly so that we can continue the work going forward. He also explained just how important structured play with our puppy is to avoid destructive behaviour. Lucas explained everything very clearly and made sure we knew what was needed and what we should be aiming for or avoiding. He was regularly in touch via messaging which included videos and moral support when something was not quite working. I would recommend the Northern Canine to anyone that wants to get a solid start on puppy training."
